Gleeson Recruitment Group are celebrating raising over £10,000 in charitable donations for Make-A-Wish® UK by hosting ‘The Grand GleeQuiz’, an evening of fun, laughter and trivia hosted in the plush surroundings of the Grand Hotel in Colmore Row, Birmingham, after its much-anticipated reopening this summer. The sell-out event was attended by businesses from all over the city, including EY, Irwin Mitchell, and PeoplePlus, all of whom generously donated at least £100 in order to attend.

The evening was a welcome reprieve to the troubles of the past year, as well as a chance to do something wonderful for families of critically ill children. Team rivalries were high at the smash hit event, as companies not used to coming in at second place competed for generously donated prizes such as a valuable painting donated by prestigious publisher De Montfort Art, a gift hamper contributed by Harvey Nichols, and a distillery tour at Sipsmith.

Adrian Mills, a representative of Make-A-Wish Foundation commented, “Events like these have a massive impact, especially after the difficulties we’ve faced due to Covid during the past 18 months. We have 65,000 critically ill children in the UK whose wishes we want to grant, and the money raised tonight will enable us to do great work making memories that will be cherished forever. A huge thank you to the Gleeson team”. Incredibly, it’s estimated that the money raised will be enough to make three wishes come true, a fantastic accomplishment that means a lot to families in difficult circumstances.

The Gleeson team are no strangers to raising money for charity, having recently raised another £8,000 for cancer charity Macmillan. Speaking at the event, Tony Gleeson, company Co-Founder, commented, “The amount of money we’ve raised, along with people’s generosity, has just blown us away. In particular, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated fabulous prizes, and made a contribution. I think we can all agree that a tremendous evening was had by all, and the Glee team are delighted to be contributing to such a worthy cause.”
