The Opportunity
We are supporting a £120m turnover business seeking an experienced Interim Project Finance Director to lead a critical commercial finance and profitability improvement programme.
Working closely with the wider Senior Leadership Team, you will take ownership of a strategic review of contract performance, customer profitability, financial reporting, and associated commercial processes.
The objective is to improve the quality, relevance, and timeliness of information available to operational and commercial decision-makers, enabling stronger commercial performance across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contract and project profitability across the organisation.
- Assess and enhance reporting frameworks, management information, and performance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer and contract profitability.
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to strengthen financial visibility and decision-making.
- Improve the quality, consistency, and timeliness of operational and financial data.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across finance, operations, and commercial functions.
- Develop and deliver effective communication plans to ensure engagement and alignment throughout the programme.
- Provide insight and recommendations to the UK MD, UK CFO, and SLT to support strategic decision-making.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an experienced interim finance leader with:
- A proven track record delivering commercial finance and profitability improvement projects.
- Strong experience within civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure environments.
- Excellent understanding of contract accounting, project profitability, and performance reporting.
- Demonstrable experience partnering with operational and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insight.
- Experience leading process improvement and reporting transformation initiatives.
- High emotional intelligence and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative, hands-on approach with a low-ego leadership style.
- The ability to influence senior leaders and drive change across multiple functions.
