Interim Category Manager
Location: Derby (Hybrid, flexible)
Rate: c.£400 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: 6 months
The role
We're delighted to be working with an organisation in the early stages of building out a group-wide procurement function, and they're looking for an experienced contractor to come in and help shape it.
This isn't just a BAU role, it's a real opportunity to get stuck into a transformation programme, helping to roll out a new procurement system, embed consistent ways of working, and bring structure across supplier spend.
There's a lot to do, so they need someone who's comfortable being hands-on and proactive, a procurement professional who can balance the bigger picture with delivery on the ground.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the implementation of a new procurement system across the group
- Leading on data migration and getting supplier/spend data into good shape
- Managing the onboarding of both new and existing suppliers into the system
- Helping build and roll out procurement processes, policies and governance
- Identifying opportunities to consolidate spend and drive better value
- Running and supporting tenders / RFx processes (indirects)
- Negotiating with suppliers to improve commercial terms and reduce risk
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
- Supporting ongoing supplier management and performance
What they're looking for
- Solid experience across procurement, sourcing or category management
- Ideally experience in a transformation or contract environment
- Someone who's worked with procurement systems (implementation experience is a big plus)
- Comfortable with data - migration, cleansing, supplier setup etc.
- Strong stakeholder skills - able to influence and bring people on the journey
- Commercially minded and able to deliver tangible value quickly
- Able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
