The Role

We're recruiting on behalf of a regional economic development organisation seeking a talented Tourism Insight Analyst to lead on research and insight projects across the tourism and visitor sectors. This role is central to supporting data-driven decision-making, policy development, and strategic planning for the region's tourism economy. Working closely with internal teams, local authorities, and key stakeholders, you will manage research programmes, analyse data, and provide intelligence that drives investment, sustainability, and growth in leisure, business tourism, and major events.


Key Requirements

  • Conduct research and analysis on regional, national, and international data to inform tourism strategies and policy.

  • Coordinate and manage data collection from multiple sources to support targeted activity across tourism and events.

  • Maintain robust datasets and provide ongoing market intelligence for internal and external reporting.

  • Collaborate with partners across the public and private sectors to gather insights and share evidence.

  • Provide clear, concise reports and presentations on findings to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Manage budgets, procurement, and external research contracts, ensuring value and quality control.

  • Support the development of frameworks for data collection and analysis across projects.

  • Identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the tourism sector through data modelling and interpretation.

  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, government bodies, and academic institutions.

  • Promote best practice in research methodology, data quality, and evaluation standards.


Candidate Criteria

  • Proven experience in research, data analysis, or insight roles within tourism, economics, or public policy.

  • Strong understanding of the tourism and visitor economy and its contribution to regional development.

  • Skilled in managing and interpreting complex datasets to produce actionable insights.

  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly.

  • Proficient in data analysis tools and statistical methods.

  • Confident managing research projects from brief through to delivery and evaluation.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to collaborate effectively across multiple organisations.

  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to research and reporting.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within set deadlines.

  • Passion for supporting sustainable and inclusive growth in the tourism sector.
