As part of its continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced Solutions Design Manager to lead the development of innovative warehousing and distribution solutions for both existing and prospective customers. This is a pivotal role that combines operational design, automation expertise, and commercial insight to deliver scalable, efficient, and customer-focused logistics solutions.

- Salary: £50,000 - £85,000 (Flex DOE)

Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative warehouse layouts, operating models, and material handling solutions that optimise space utilisation, productivity, and scalability.
- Partner with Commercial and Business Development teams to support customer opportunities, tenders, proposals, and solution presentations.
- Engage directly with customers to assess operational requirements, identify challenges, and translate findings into practical logistics solutions.
- Produce detailed warehouse designs, operational process flows, capacity planning models, and simulation-based recommendations.
- Evaluate and recommend automation technologies including ASRS, AMRs, robotics, sortation systems, conveyor infrastructure, and other automated material handling solutions.
- Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept development and solution design through to implementation and operational go-live.
- Develop financial models, investment appraisals, and ROI calculations to support business cases and customer proposals.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and Project Delivery teams to ensure successful execution and deployment of designed solutions.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation across the solutions offering.
- Identify potential risks, constraints, and operational dependencies during the design phase to ensure robust and deliverable outcomes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience within Solutions Design, Warehouse Design, Supply Chain Engineering, Logistics Consultancy, or Material Handling environments.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, process improvement methodologies, and facility design principles.
- Experience designing automation-led solutions incorporating technologies such as Robotics, ASRS, AMRs, Shuttle Systems, Conveyors, and Sortation Equipment.
- Demonstrable experience supporting customer tenders, bids, and logistics solution development activities.
- Strong analytical capability with experience creating cost models, operational assessments, and business cases.
- Proficient in design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Visio, or equivalent design tools.
- Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working within third-party logistics (3PL), e-commerce fulfilment, retail distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain consulting environments would be highly advantageous.
- Previous involvement in tender management, solution implementation, or warehouse transformation projects would be beneficial.
