We are partnering with a market leading financial services organisation and employer of choice based in Birmingham. A specialist opportunity has arisen for a high-impact Senior Manager position specialising in IFRS 9 Accounting and Controls.
This role will shape the future of financial reporting and offers significant exposure across Finance, Risk and Regulatory Reporting functions, with responsibility for overseeing IFRS 9 reporting, expected credit loss analysis, governance and controls, and financial reporting deliverables.
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, providing challenge, insight and leadership across a complex and highly regulated environment.
The Opportunity
Working within a large and sophisticated finance function, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and effectiveness of IFRS 9 reporting processes and controls.
You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders, support regulatory reporting requirements, drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the evolution of finance operations through automation and enhanced data quality practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and oversight of IFRS 9 reporting activities.
- Review and challenge reporting outputs, ensuring robust governance and accuracy.
- Perform detailed ECL analysis, variance reviews and driver-based commentary.
- Provide technical review of financial and regulatory disclosures.
- Assess impairment reporting outputs and investigate significant movements.
- Lead data quality assessments and remediation activities.
- Own and operate key controls, reconciliations and SOX-related activities.
- Partner with Finance, Risk, Internal Audit and External Audit stakeholders.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and reporting enhancements.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements and assurance reviews.
About You
We're looking for an ambitious, technically strong finance professional who combines excellent analytical skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Essential Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong IFRS 9 accounting and reporting expertise within the banking or financial services sectors.
- Knowledge of expected credit loss methodologies and reporting.
- Financial and regulatory reporting experience.
- Strong controls and governance background.
- Experience operating within SOX or comparable control frameworks.
- Advanced analytical and data investigation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
