Senior Buyer
Location: Wimbledon (5 days per week onsite)
Salary: £65,000 - £90,000 + benefits
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role
I am currently recruiting several Senior Buyers for a long‑established, well‑known UK retailer with a strong high-street and digital presence. These roles sit within a forward-thinking commercial team that is investing heavily in product development, customer insight and category growth.
The business has a proud heritage and is entering an exciting phase of modernisation, making this an ideal time for experienced Buyers to step into a role with real influence and momentum.
These opportunities will take responsibility for key general categories, including (but not limited to) DIY and Workshop, Household, Electrical, Home Improvement, Bathroom, Travel and related non‑fashion ranges.
What You Will Be Responsible For
As Senior Buyer, you will be accountable for setting the direction of your category, delivering commercially successful ranges, and ensuring customers have access to products that are relevant, reliable and distinctive.
Your responsibilities will include:
Category Leadership
Develop and deliver category plans that drive sales, margin and growth across multiple store and online channels.
Monitor trends and customer behaviour to ensure product selection remains competitive and commercially strong.
Product Range Development
Source, develop and review product ranges that reflect market trends and customer needs.
Identify opportunities to introduce new products and improve existing lines, ensuring quality and value remain central.
Commercial & Supplier Management
Negotiate terms, cost prices and promotional agreements that support commercial objectives.
Build strong relationships with suppliers and maintain a clear understanding of global and UK sourcing opportunities.
Performance & Planning
Manage budgets, forecasts and performance reporting to ensure your category meets financial expectations.
Work closely with Merchandising to maintain optimal stock levels and support trading priorities.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to bring:
- A strong retail buying background at Senior Buyer or equivalent level
- Experience across categories such as DIY, Home, Electrical, Tools, Household or other non-fashion areas
- A commercial, analytical approach with the ability to interpret data and turn insight into action
- Proven experience in negotiation, supplier management and delivering profitable outcomes
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, seasonal retail environment
- The ability to plan, organise and prioritise across multiple product areas
- An interest in product trends, customer behaviour, and how ranges perform across both stores and online
