Senior Buyer - 6‑Month FTC

Up to £55,000 (pro rata) | Hybrid (Birmingham - 2 days in office)
Full‑Time - 35 hours per week

Are you a proactive Senior Buyer looking for a busy, varied role where no two days are the same? Do you enjoy working across a wide range of indirect categories, supporting stakeholders, and delivering real commercial value? If so, this 6‑month fixed‑term opportunity could be ideal.

We're supporting a well‑known financial services organisation in Birmingham as they look to add an experienced Senior Buyer to their Procurement team. This is an excellent chance to contribute to a highly regarded function and support a diverse internal customer base.

The Role

You'll be working on a wide variety of indirect procurement projects, supporting agreements ranging from small‑value engagements of a few thousand pounds through to contracts up to £200k +. It's a hands‑on, engaging role with plenty of stakeholder interaction and ownership.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Running end‑to‑end sourcing activity across indirect categories such as FM, professional services, technology, HR services and operational support.
  • Leading supplier onboarding, ensuring all due diligence and checks are completed.
  • Managing tender processes, producing RFPs/RFIs, evaluating responses and presenting recommendations.
  • Negotiating commercial and contractual terms to secure best value.
  • Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring full compliance throughout.
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the business to guide them through the procurement process.
  • Managing documentation, governance steps and contract award activities.

This is a predominantly manual process environment, so you'll need to be comfortable generating RFPs, evaluations and contract documentation. Strong attention to detail and confidence managing your own workload are essential.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in indirect procurement and end‑to‑end sourcing.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills - confident working with a wide range of internal teams.
  • Experience running tendering activity, supplier due diligence and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work at pace.
  • Comfortable operating in a process‑driven environment, with strong Word and Excel capability.
  • A proactive, commercially minded individual who can work independently and add immediate value.

What's on Offer

  • Up to £55,000 depending on experience
  • 6‑month fixed‑term contract
  • Hybrid working - typically 2 days per week in the Birmingham office
  • Opportunity to work in a respected organisation and support a broad range of business areas
  • A varied workload where you'll see real impact from your work
