12-month Fixed-Term Contract | Hybrid (East Midlands) | £44,746-£56,535 + benefits

A major UK university is embarking on a strategic transformation of its internal digital communications platform and we're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a brand-new staff intranet built on Microsoft Modern SharePoint.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile digital programme from discovery through to delivery, working with a leading external 3rd party and senior stakeholders across the institution.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Engagement Communications, you'll take end-to-end responsibility for managing the design and delivery of a new intranet that will transform how staff connect, communicate, and collaborate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all phases of the intranet project, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and suppliers.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the external agency partner to ensure successful delivery of technical and design outputs.
  • Engage stakeholders across academic and professional services teams to align requirements and secure adoption.
  • Oversee content structure, user journeys, information architecture, and accessibility compliance.
  • Establish governance frameworks for content, permissions, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive awareness, training, and communication to support staff adoption.

About You

You'll bring a blend of project leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical understanding of intranet platforms, ideally within large or complex organisations.

Essential experience includes:

  • Proven track record of managing an intranet and SharePoint migration previously.
  • Experience with SharePoint Modern Online and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Strong understanding of content governance, metadata, and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to manage external suppliers, budgets, and project risks.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and organisational skills.
  • A delivery-focused, proactive approach with the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience within the higher education sector.
  • Professional project management certification (Prince2, APM, AgilePM).

Contract: 12 months (FTC), starting December 2025
Location: Hybrid (East Midlands)
Salary: £44,746-£56,535 + benefits
