Confidential Opportunity: Intranet Project Manager (Delivery)
12-month Fixed-Term Contract | Hybrid (East Midlands) | £44,746-£56,535 + benefits
A major UK university is embarking on a strategic transformation of its internal digital communications platform and we're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a brand-new staff intranet built on Microsoft Modern SharePoint.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile digital programme from discovery through to delivery, working with a leading external 3rd party and senior stakeholders across the institution.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Engagement Communications, you'll take end-to-end responsibility for managing the design and delivery of a new intranet that will transform how staff connect, communicate, and collaborate.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all phases of the intranet project, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and suppliers.
- Act as the primary liaison with the external agency partner to ensure successful delivery of technical and design outputs.
- Engage stakeholders across academic and professional services teams to align requirements and secure adoption.
- Oversee content structure, user journeys, information architecture, and accessibility compliance.
- Establish governance frameworks for content, permissions, and lifecycle management.
- Drive awareness, training, and communication to support staff adoption.
About You
You'll bring a blend of project leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical understanding of intranet platforms, ideally within large or complex organisations.
Essential experience includes:
- Proven track record of managing an intranet and SharePoint migration previously.
- Experience with SharePoint Modern Online and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Strong understanding of content governance, metadata, and accessibility standards.
- Ability to manage external suppliers, budgets, and project risks.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and organisational skills.
- A delivery-focused, proactive approach with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience within the higher education sector.
- Professional project management certification (Prince2, APM, AgilePM).
Contract: 12 months (FTC), starting December 2025
