Director, Project Management - Global PMO
Wolverhampton (on-site 4 days per week) + International Travel
Salary £90,000 - £120,000 + £4800 car allowance + bonus + benefits

About the business
My client is a global, publicly listed manufacturer supplying engineered components to OEMs across building products and industrial markets. They operate across multiple sites in the UK, Europe, North America and beyond.

The business is building a new, properly structured PMO with direct backing from the CEO and Chairman. This hire will play a central role in shaping how major change is delivered across the group.

Why this role is different
This isn't project admin or business support. They want an experienced project leader who acts as a genuine sparring partner to senior leaders. The person in this role will:

  • Challenge the status quo
  • Bring an external view of what good looks like
  • Help the business make better, data-led decisions

You'll be the right hand to the Head of PMO. You'll lead major programmes independently, and there's a clear opportunity to step up within two years.

What you'll work on
The next 12 months include a broad and high-impact roadmap:

  • Value stream mapping across recently integrated businesses, from raw materials in to finished goods out, to drive consolidation and value creation
  • Continuous improvement and automation across manufacturing and commercial processes, removing manual work and freeing up capacity
  • Target operating model design and site consolidation
  • Revenue growth initiatives aligned to the group's long-term growth ambitions
  • Go-to-market planning
  • Regulatory compliance programmes, including building regulations and workforce training
  • Potential ERP-related change

Key responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-functional programmes from concept to delivery, on time, within scope and on budget
  • Partner with divisional presidents and C-suite stakeholders to set milestones and metrics with minimal disruption to operations and customers
  • Prioritise and resource the project portfolio, including work delivered within the divisions
  • Embed a consistent change management methodology, train project teams and build buy-in with impacted employees
  • Identify and address resistance to change so that change sticks
  • Test assumptions and validate data rather than take information at face value
  • Drive transparency and accountability through clear written follow-ups and regular communication
  • Report on progress and benefits, partnering with Internal Comms to share milestones across the business
  • Lead and develop two Project Managers, and work alongside an international team that includes a Business Analyst

What you'll bring

  • Significant, broad project or programme leadership experience across multiple initiatives, ideally with an operational or CI focus
  • A manufacturing background, ideally within a global, multi-site, matrix organisation
  • Experience managing budgets and project metrics
  • People management experience
  • Confidence influencing and reporting at C-suite and board level
  • An adaptable communication style. You're comfortable being direct, and equally comfortable with very different personalities.
  • A degree in Business, Engineering or a related field
  • Desirable: Six Sigma Green Belt, ERP programme exposure, value creation or post-integration experience

Experienced Senior Programme Managers ready for a step up will also be considered.

Package

  • £90,000 - £120,000 base salary depending on experience
  • £400 per month car allowance
  • Performance-related bonus
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, with a holiday purchase scheme
  • Pension match up to 7%
  • Life assurance
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme, cycle to work scheme, free eye tests and volunteering days

Working pattern
On-site 4 days a week in the West Midlands, with international travel roughly every 4-6 weeks.
