Project Accountant

Location: Birmingham
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £36,000-£40,000
Working Pattern: Full Time / Hybrid

Overview:

We are supporting a client in the search for a Project Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, offering a mix of office-based and remote working.

This position is ideal for a part qualified accountant looking to take ownership of financial processes across a range of projects. You'll play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and ensuring financial performance is monitored and communicated effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and manage project financials in line with internal and external requirements.

  • Work with project teams to prepare budgets and monitor financial progress.

  • Track costs, revenues, and margins to ensure financial targets are met.

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on project performance and financial status.

  • Carry out variance analysis and contribute to monthly reporting cycles.

  • Raise invoices in line with contractual agreements and track payments.

  • Support cash flow forecasting and ensure financial controls are followed.

  • Take part in project planning and review meetings to align financial insight with delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • Part Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance role, including project accounting or cost control.

  • Previous exposure to project-based or service-driven environments is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of project finance principles, including revenue recognition and cost tracking.

  • Proficient in Excel and experience with ERP systems

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and good communication skills.

  • Able to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams.
