The Project Manager is responsible and accountable for planning, executing, and closing projects. They define the project scope, build comprehensive work plans, and manage delivery against budget. A core function of the role is to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement new projects aligned with wider business growth expectations.

Project Managers are expected to demonstrate core values such as teamwork, passion, and a strong "can‑do" attitude, with a commitment to completing tasks on time. They must ensure safety, quality, and efficiency are consistently maintained. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of production processes and a proactive approach to continuous improvement activities across SQCPD, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.


Key Responsibilities

Communication

  • Construct and adhere to project plans.
  • Use project management tools effectively.
  • Build project plans with multiple variables and manage progress against them.
  • Communicate assertively and professionally with all business functions.
  • Attend morning SQCDP meetings and daily communication sessions to stay aligned with targets and objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers, ensuring clear communication on all operational matters.
  • Escalate relevant issues promptly to the Engineering Manager.

Safety

  • Work with H&S officers and leadership to minimise risks, following risk assessments and work instructions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Comply with all safety controls including method statements.
  • Report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.

Quality

  • Ensure all projects meet customer expectations and provide clear, accurate responses to customer concerns.
  • Report quality concerns to line management and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Comply with all quality standards and procedures.

Cost

  • Ensure adherence to project milestones, targets, and objectives.
  • Deliver all project tasks efficiently, aiming for 100% efficiency with continued improvement.
  • Drive productivity gains through VA activities and waste elimination (8 wastes).

Delivery

  • Manage allocated project budgets in alignment with business objectives.
  • Work closely with other support functions to meet operational targets.
  • Collaborate with NPI teams to provide excellent internal customer service.
  • Remain accountable for the project plan and its execution.
  • Provide accurate weekly project progress updates.
  • Ensure effective capacity utilisation.
  • Advocate for customer requirements and maintain promised delivery dates.
  • Keep customers and internal systems updated on delays and revised plans.
  • Coordinate with leadership and departments to resolve delivery exceptions.

People

  • Engage with reward and recognition processes.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively to optimise team efficiency.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Participate in personal development via the PDR cycle.
  • Share best practice and support coaching initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards and promote organisational values.
  • Participate in improvement activities including SQCDP, Kaizen, 5S, and problem‑solving.
  • Lead or support CI projects such as Project Charters and Challenge Zero initiatives.

Qualifications / Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a high‑pressure, fast‑changing manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrable project management experience within a mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity and maturity levels.

Desirable

  • Formal Project Management qualification.
  • Knowledge of electrical control cabinets and/or electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Competency with Microsoft SharePoint.
