Private Client Tax Manager
City | Hybrid 3 days in office
Advise international families and individuals, with direct access to the partners
Work with a highly collaborative private client tax team at a mid-tier firm, advising high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families on complex UK and cross-border tax matters. This is an advisory-led role for someone who wants to spend their time on planning, structuring and client relationships, backed by strong compliance experience.
Why join
- Advisory-led work. You'll provide practical, clear advice on residency, global mobility, offshore trusts and structures, and international succession and estate planning, not just compliance.
- Direct partner access. You'll work closely with an International Tax Partner and collaborate with partners across the firm, with a high degree of autonomy and real exposure to senior decision-makers.
- Complex, varied clients. The client base is international, with offshore structures, dual residence and multi-jurisdictional exposure, so no two assignments look the same.
- Timely technical work. You'll advise on the new UK regime for internationally mobile individuals, including the 4-year FIG regime, TRF and long-term residence for IHT, and on how it differs from the old non-dom rules.
- A collaborative network. You'll work with family offices, lawyers, offshore trustees, investment managers and overseas advisers to deliver joined-up solutions.
- Develop your profile. You'll coach and support junior colleagues and contribute to articles and thought leadership.
- A firm that invests in its people. Benefits include a mentoring scheme, a wellbeing platform, an extra day off for your birthday and a wider perks package covering lifestyle, health, development and finances.
What you'll do
- Advise international clients on UK tax planning, including pre- and post-arrival planning and global mobility
- Prepare advisory reports on strategic UK tax planning for clients and their offshore corporate and trust structures
- Advise on de-enveloping and property structuring for UK property held in offshore structures
- Advise on UK tax legislation changes affecting international clients, including the old and new residence and domicile rules
- Support clients with HMRC enquiries, settlements and disclosures, including the Worldwide Disclosure Facility
- Prepare and review UK Self-Assessment returns, including worldwide income, foreign tax credits and double tax agreement analysis
- Prepare and review non-resident CGT, ATED and ROE filings, non-resident landlord company tax returns and IHT returns for offshore trusts
- Act as a regular client contact and stay ahead of UK and international tax developments, sharing insights with clients and the team
About you
- ATT, CTA or ACA qualified, or equivalent (part-qualified candidates considered at Senior Associate level)
- At least 4 years' personal tax experience, ideally in a private client-focused firm or specialist international team
- Strong grasp of the old non-dom rules and the new regime, plus international personal tax concepts such as mixed funds, offshore trust taxation and private equity executive remuneration
- Comfortable leading assignments for clients with offshore structures, trusts or dual residence
- Organised and meticulous, able to manage multiple clients at once
- A confident communicator who builds trust easily, adapts to international clients and enjoys long-term relationships
