Planning Solicitor (3+ PQE)
Leading National Law Firm | Oxford (with hybrid flexibility)
I am currently partnering with a highly regarded national law firm as they continue to strategically grow their specialist Planning team. This is a key appointment for the Oxford office and represents an excellent opportunity for a Planning Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE looking to build their practice within a market-leading national platform.
The Opportunity
The Planning team is instructed by a broad and high-quality client base including:
Residential and mixed-use developers
Major retail brands
Corporate occupiers
Contractors
Investors and funders
Charities and government bodies
Local authorities and NHS organisations
The work will be varied and engaging, with exposure to complex and high-value development matters. Typical work will involve:
Strategic and tactical advice on securing planning permission
Drafting and negotiating statutory agreements (including complex s.106 and highways agreements)
Planning due diligence on real estate, funding and corporate transactions
Advice on environmental and protected-land issues (including EIA, CIL and GLA planning)
Auditing planning application documents and committee reports
Supporting clients through appeals, judicial review and enforcement matters
Advising on Assets of Community Value, Village Greens and special protection areas
Highways and regeneration advisory work
You'll have the opportunity to develop your own caseload while also working closely with senior partners on significant national development projects. There is also strong encouragement for involvement in BD initiatives and the development of a professional network.
About You
We are seeking a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with:
3+ years PQE in planning and highways law
Experience drafting complex statutory and development agreements
Experience with planning-led regeneration projects
Exposure to planning judicial review and appeals work
Confidence in presenting at planning committees and advising clients without a legal background
Strong analytical and technical skills with a track record of successful practice development
Excellent communication and the ability to translate complex legal matters into commercial, practical advice will be key
