Payroll Officer
Location: Dudley (On‑site)
Salary: Up to £32,000
Hours: 35 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Time and Attendance
Administer time and attendance processes, including:
- Creation of clock cards
- Identifying and reporting anomalies
- Calculating average holiday pay
- Ensuring alignment of associate holidays
- Calculating zero lost time
Input, process, and administer all payroll and benefits activity, including:
- Overtime
- Tax changes
- Starters and leavers
- All types of absences
- Student loans
- Benefit and salary approvals/changes
- Calculate overtime, salary increases, shift payments, and benefits in line with payroll rules and procedures.
Payroll Processing & Compliance
Assist with checking and signing off 4‑weekly payroll, including:
- Producing payroll reports
- BACS submissions
- Third‑party payments
- Ensure all payroll transactions are fully auditable.
- Prepare PAYE and cheque requisitions.
- Ensure all payroll deadlines are met, including tax year‑end.
- Liaise with external bodies such as HMRC.
Support & Administration
- Support the Payroll & Benefits Manager with all payroll processing activities.
- Provide general payroll business administration support.
- Maintain payroll documentation, spreadsheets, and guidance notes.
- Handle and respond to payroll and time & attendance queries from associates and managers.
- Process manual payroll adjustments when required.
- Undertake any additional duties necessary to ensure the role is carried out successfully.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' payroll processing experience.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle high volumes of work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Intermediate MS Office skills.
- Experience using SAGE 50 Payroll.
Desirable
- CIPP qualification.
- Payroll Administrator Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
- AAT qualification.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Experience using ASTROW Time & Attendance systems.
