Are you a commercially minded Management Accountant looking for a role where you can make a real impact within a growing SME?

We're partnering with a well-established business seeking a proactive and hands-on Management Accountant to work closely with the Finance Director and take ownership of the management accounting and reporting function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic SME environment, combining financial reporting, business partnering, analysis, and process improvement.

You'll play a key role in providing accurate financial information, supporting commercial decision-making, and driving continuous improvements across finance processes and systems. We're looking for someone who is comfortable operating both strategically and operationally, with the confidence to challenge, influence, and add value across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, maintaining strong financial controls and reporting standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, providing meaningful analysis and insights to support business performance.
  • Partner closely with the CFO and operational teams to support commercial decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyse business performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Monitor working capital, including debtors, creditors, and stock, highlighting opportunities to improve cash flow and financial performance.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting, and systems, including the ongoing development of Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Support ad hoc projects, business planning activities, and strategic initiatives as required.

About You

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
  • Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Finance Manager, Assistant Financial Controller, or similar position.
  • Strong management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
  • Experience working within an SME environment where a hands-on and adaptable approach is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide commercial insight.
  • Confident working with stakeholders across the business and building strong working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement and adding value.
  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, engineering, or other stock-based environments would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be beneficial but is not essential.

What's in it for You?

  • Salary up to £55,000.
  • Opportunity to work directly alongside an experienced CFO.
  • A broad and varied role with genuine autonomy and responsibility.
  • Exposure to commercial decision-making and business-critical projects.
  • The chance to make a visible impact within a successful and growing SME.
  • Ongoing involvement in process improvement and systems development initiatives.
  • A stable, long-term opportunity with excellent scope for professional growth and development.
