A newly created opportunity to step into a pivotal role at a business on the cusp of transformational growth. As Management Accountant, you'll join a close-knit leadership team and take full ownership of the function by leading and developing all aspects of management information and performance management.
This is a roll up your sleeves position, working cohesively with all departments to leverage technology and improve efficiencies and ways of working. With a small but mighty finance and HR team, you'll have the support to build an impressive finance as a service centre that adds value to every facet of the business.
You'll bring both commercial insight and hands-on experience, playing a key role in strategic planning, scaling operations and financial resilience. While the role requires strong on-site presence initially, we offer hybrid working once you're established and embedded in the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial analysis and insights to help make business decisions
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Create cost saving initiatives and monitor their effectiveness
- Share payables and receivables duties with our existing Finance Manager
- Improve service line/business unit profitability - provide insights and action points
- Monitor and report on KPIs relevant to operational and financial performance
- Conduct 'what-if' scenarios to test resilience and support actions to mitigate risks
- Collaborate with operational teams to understand financial impacts of business activities
- Maintain and improve financial systems and processes, including using technology and automation
Additional Responsibilities
- Present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Work with external accountants for statutory reporting, and compliance
- Support on mergers, acquisitions, and integration opportunities
- Collaborate with the board on business decisions including capital planning
- Modernise systems and financial processes to support scalability
Requirements
- Proven experience in management accounting, preferably within healthcare, legal, or service-based industries
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong commercial and operational finance expertise
- Previous experience in an SME or high-growth environment
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, standalone role
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Located within a commutable distance of the Stafford area
