Job Title: Management Accountant

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire

Salary: £35,000 + Study Support

Working Pattern: 4 days office / 1 day WFH

Role Overview

We are seeking a part-qualified Management Accountant to join a growing construction business during an exciting period of expansion and systems transformation.

This role will take ownership of key month-end processes while supporting the wider finance function with accurate reporting, commercial insight, and process improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, improving processes, and building strong relationships across operational teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop into a senior leadership role, with a clear progression path towards Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Full ownership of month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and journals
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to commercial and operational teams
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting (construction-specific accounting)
  • Support year-end audit and preparation of audit schedules
  • Assist with VAT returns and cash flow reporting
  • Contribute to the implementation of a new ERP system (COINS) over the next 6-9 months
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality
  • Support and collaborate with the wider finance team where required

Skills & Experience

  • Part-qualified accountant (AAT / CIMA / ACCA)
  • Strong foundation in management accounting
  • Previous experience within the construction sector (highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments, and month-end processes
  • Experience with fixed assets and journal postings
  • Confident working with non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong Excel skills and systems experience (Sage 200 experience beneficial; COINS highly advantageous)
  • Experience supporting audit processes is beneficial
