Overview

A rapidly expanding organisation operating within the environmental and sustainability sector, is seeking an M&A Associate to support the M&A Director with its strategic growth through targeted acquisitions across the UK. The role works closely with senior leadership to identify, evaluate, and execute transactions that strengthen the company's market position and advance its long‑term sustainability objectives. This is a UK‑based remote position with performance‑linked incentives.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Execution

  • Evaluate potential acquisition opportunities within the environmental, sustainability, and related services markets.
  • Manage day‑to‑day M&A workstreams with autonomy while reporting to senior leadership.
  • Support the full transaction lifecycle, including deal structuring, negotiation, documentation, and closing.

Due Diligence & Analysis

  • Lead and coordinate comprehensive due diligence processes across financial, legal, operational, and sector‑specific areas.
  • Prepare investment appraisals and internal approval documentation for senior decision‑makers.
  • Monitor competitive and sector trends to support informed acquisition strategy.
  • Assist in negotiating key commercial terms with prospective targets.

Stakeholder & Advisor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external advisors and third‑party stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of transactions.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA‑qualified (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in M&A or Transaction Services.
  • Suitable backgrounds include Corporate Development, boutique M&A advisory, or similar professional environments.
  • Experience working on lower‑mid‑market transactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple live opportunities simultaneously.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and capable of prioritising effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑starter comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards of output.

Additional Information

  • Remote role based within the UK, with regular travel required to meet acquisition targets and advisors.
  • Compensation is experience‑based and includes bonus and equity upon successful completion of probation
