Interim Tax Manager
Location: Northampton
Duration: 12 months FTC
Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum
We're currently supporting a PE-backed business in Northampton on an Interim Senior Tax Manager mandate.
Supporting the FD & the wider finance team, you will take ownership of core tax compliance processes, tax reporting and support key advisory and project work.
This includes Direct Tax compliance and reporting, Indirect Tax (VAT) compliance, Tax advisory and business support, Audit and risk management. The business is growing through acquisition and is planning to complete two acquisitions over the next 12 months, so the role will also involve M&A advisory work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership and lead on UK direct tax compliance and reporting across the group, including corporation tax, capital allowances, CIR, P11Ds/PSAs and specialist provisions, ensuring technical accuracy, robust documentation and timely delivery.
- Provide strategic tax advisory support to the business, shaping tax outcomes on new projects, contracts, transactions and legislative change.
- Drive strong tax governance, risk management and control frameworks, leading responses to HMRC and external auditors, owning SAO requirements, tax strategy publication, and proactively mitigating emerging tax risks.
- Lead and develop indirect tax oversight, ensuring effective VAT group compliance, identifying risk areas, and implementing process improvements that strengthen controls and enhance efficiency across the finance function.
- Operate as a senior internal and external stakeholder manager, maintaining trusted relationships with Private Equity owners, advisors and cross‑functional teams
