Interim Group Financial Controller
Rate: £600/750 per day, inside IR35 via umbrella
Duration: 6 months
Location: West Midlands
Working: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
Start: Immediate
We are seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller for an immediate six-month assignment supporting a listed business through a significant period of change.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role requiring a strong technical accountant who can quickly take ownership of the group finance function and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality financial reporting.
The Role
The immediate priority will be the delivery of consolidated monthly management accounts and support through the interim reporting period. You will provide strong technical and operational leadership across the finance function, working closely with senior stakeholders and managing a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of consolidated monthly management accounts.
- Support the business through the interim reporting process and results.
- Provide technical accounting leadership, with particular emphasis on IFRS and FRS 102.
- Manage and oversee the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
- Lead and coordinate the external audit process.
- Manage, develop and provide leadership to a finance team of approximately 10 people.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with the group's banking partners.
- Oversee the group's HMRC and tax compliance requirements.
- Prepare, maintain and monitor robust cash flow forecasts.
- Lead the group annual budgeting process, working with relevant stakeholders across the business.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the group's treasury policy.
- Provide senior financial insight and support to the wider business during a period of organisational change.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting processes and the effectiveness of the finance function.
About You
You will be a strong, technically focused qualified accountant with significant experience operating at Group Financial Controller or equivalent level.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Extensive experience of IFRS, with strong knowledge of FRS 102.
- Proven experience of group consolidations and management reporting.
- Experience managing and developing a finance team.
- Strong experience of statutory accounts, audit and interim reporting.
- Experience of cash flow forecasting, treasury and banking relationships.
- Experience leading or contributing to a group budgeting process.
- The ability to quickly understand a complex organisation and operate effectively in a fast-changing environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A hands-on, pragmatic approach, with the ability to hit the ground running.
