Interim Group Financial Controller
Location: South Birmingham (3 days on-site / 2 days remote)
Duration: 6-9 months
Rate: £600/£700 per day outside IR35
Sector: Private equity-backed, contract-led business
Turnover: c. £45m
We are supporting a private equity-backed, contract-led business in South Birmingham in the appointment of an Interim Group Financial Controller for a period of six to nine months.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have full responsibility for all internal financial matters across multiple business units within the group, supported by a small but capable finance team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of the group's financial operations and controls
- FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Cashflow management in a challenging PE-backed environment
- Advanced financial reporting to lenders, banks and PE stakeholders
- Financial modelling and scenario planning
- Oversight of payroll reporting and tax compliance
- Ensuring robust month-end, management reporting and governance across the group
- Acting as the CFO's right hand, providing insight, challenge and stability
Key experience required:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Proven experience as a Group FC / Financial Controller / Senior Finance Lead
- A track record in PE-backed or lender-heavy environments
- Strong cash management and creditor / lender reporting experience
- Broad technical capability across FP&A, controls, modelling, tax and payroll
- A hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up approach with the gravitas to lead a function
- The ability to operate at pace and bring structure to complexity
