Interim Financial Controller - 8 Month FTC

  • Leicester (Hybrid, with some travel to the London)
  • £90,000 - £100,000 + car allowance DOE

Gleeson are thrilled to be supporting a key client of ours in Leicester again who are looking for a highly commercial Interim Financial Controller to take ownership of the South East region's operations. The role oversees the finance for the complex distribution of product from their northern manufacturing sites to the Southern regions of the UK and out across the country.

This is a high-impact role where you'll be a trusted business partner to Regional Directors and General Managers, driving performance, efficiency, and strategic decision-making. It requires someone with exception knowledge of inventory control and ideally someone who has worked closely with the Supply Chain side of a large business.

Key Focus of the Interim Financial Controller Position:

  • Strengthen the financial control environment across SE and overseas business teams.
  • Partner with the Regional Director, leadership teams, and operational management teams.
  • Analyse supply paths: Source → port → end sites, focusing on material flow, cost of materials, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Optimise inventory balance and cost of holding inventory at ports.
  • Track initiatives to ensure costs/benefits are allocated to the right places.
  • Support site optimisation: analyse production split vs. commercial sales mix to maximise profitability.
  • Provide commercial insight into strategy material storage at site.
  • Deliver strong reporting and financial control during a period of transformation and operational change.
  • Team Development - Lead, mentor one Finance Analyst, building capability and driving a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly preferred.
  • Strong financial controller background with exposure to supply chain, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Experience in large, complex project environments or turnaround/transformation situations.
  • Analytical, commercial, and comfortable navigating material flow and cost optimisation challenges.
  • Strong stakeholder skills to work with senior leadership and operational site teams.
  • SAP (or other ERP) experience advantageous.
