Interim Financial Controller - 12 Month FTC
- Leicester (Hybrid, with some travel to the London)
- £90,000 - £110,000 DOE
Gleeson are thrilled to be supporting a key client of ours in Leicester again who are looking for an Interim Financial Controller to take ownership of the South East region's operations. The role oversees the finance for the distribution of product from their northern manufacturing sites to the Southern regions of the UK and out across the country.
This is a high-impact role where you'll be a trusted business partner to Regional Directors and General Managers, driving performance, efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
Key Focus of the Interim Financial Controller Position:
- Business Partnering & Leadership - Work closely with Regional Directors and senior stakeholders, providing insight, challenge and strategic guidance to improve performance and profitability.
- Performance & Cost Control - Drive cost management, efficiency, and operational excellence; lead initiatives to improve cash flow, working capital and inventory management.
- Strategic Planning & Analysis - Oversee budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis; provide clear insight into risks and opportunities; support pricing and product mix strategies.
- Governance & Compliance - Ensure robust financial controls, adherence to accounting policies and regulatory standards, and successful delivery of audit and compliance requirements.
- Project & Change Leadership - Support major initiatives, ad hoc projects and process improvements across the region, ensuring finance adds real commercial value.
- Team Development - Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, building capability and driving a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven and significant financial control experience in UK businesses.
- Strong supply chain sector knowledge is preferred - ideally distribution, logistics, or freight.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical ability and commercial curiosity.
- A confident user of with ERP (ideally SAP), reporting tools, and advanced Excel/Google suite.
