HR Advisor / HR Business Partner | North Birmingham - Office Based | up to £45K | Full Time, Permanent
The Opportunity
Gleeson Recruitment Group are currently working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business in North Birmingham to recruit an experienced HR Advisor / HR Business Partner. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with a strong background in manufacturing or a similar operational environment, who thrives in a fast-paced setting and enjoys managing complex Employee Relations (ER) matters. Working closely with operational management teams, you will play a key role in delivering a proactive, commercially focused HR service, providing hands-on support across the employee lifecycle with a particular emphasis on Employee Relations, people management and building management capability. Previous experience within manufacturing or a similar operational environment is essential for this role, alongside strong Employee Relations experience. This is a fully office-based position.
The Role
- Provide hands-on HR support and guidance to managers across the business, ensuring a consistent and commercially focused approach.
- Manage a broad range of Employee Relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, capability, performance and conduct issues.
- Lead and support investigations, ensuring cases are handled fairly, thoroughly and in line with employment legislation and company policies.
- Coach and develop line managers to improve confidence and capability in managing people-related issues.
- Work closely with operational stakeholders to address workforce challenges and support effective people management.
- Provide advice on employment law, HR policies and procedures, ensuring best practice is maintained.
- Support employee engagement, performance management and wider HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Identify people-related trends and risks, recommending practical solutions to improve performance and minimise employee relations issues.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, records and case management information.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced HR Advisor or HR Business Partner who is confident operating in a hands-on, fast-paced and operationally focused environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous HR experience within manufacturing or a similar operational sector.
- Strong Employee Relations experience, with the ability to manage cases from initial advice through to resolution.
- Experience supporting operational managers and advising on complex people-related matters.
- A sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- The confidence to challenge, influence and coach managers at all levels.
- A pragmatic, commercially minded approach, balancing employee needs with business objectives.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fully office-based environment, building strong relationships with operational teams.
