HR Advisor - Compliance Lead | Lichfield - Hybrid | 12 months FTC | £36,000 plus benefits

Are you an experienced HR professional with a strong understanding of HR compliance, governance and legislation? We're looking for an HR Advisor - Compliance Lead to join a busy and supportive People Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys combining hands-on HR expertise with a specialist focus on compliance, whilst also having the opportunity to coach and support junior members of the team. You'll act as a subject matter expert within a key area of HR compliance, helping to ensure processes are robust, legally compliant and consistently delivered across the organisation.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior HR Advisor - Compliance Lead, you'll take responsibility for supporting the delivery of high-quality HR compliance processes, whilst providing guidance and day-to-day direction to a small team of 2-4 Junior HR Advisors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coaching, supporting and providing day-to-day guidance to Junior HR Advisors.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in an area such as Right to Work, Sponsorship & Visas, DBS/PVG or wider HR compliance.
  • Providing expert advice to managers, employees and key stakeholders on HR compliance matters.
  • Ensuring HR processes are delivered accurately and in line with legislation, regulation and internal policies.
  • Managing and overseeing compliance activities including Right to Work checks, immigration and sponsorship, DBS/PVG checks, professional memberships and contractual changes.
  • Supporting family-friendly leave and employee benefits processes.
  • Identifying compliance risks and introducing appropriate controls and improvements.
  • Supporting audits, inspections and reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and documentation.
  • Building strong relationships across the business and ensuring compliance requirements are understood and consistently applied.
  • Contributing to wider process improvement and HR service enhancement initiatives.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience in an HR Advisory or HR Operations environment, ideally with a strong compliance or governance focus.

You'll ideally have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Right to Work compliance
  • UK immigration and sponsorship processes
  • DBS/PVG and criminal records checks
  • Professional membership monitoring
  • HR transactional compliance
  • Employment legislation and policy interpretation

You'll also need:

  • Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The confidence to interpret legislation and translate it into practical HR advice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality HR services.

A CIPD qualification or progress towards one would be advantageous, as would experience working within a large, regulated or complex organisation.
