Head of Procurement

£80,000 - £90,000 + Benefits
London | Hybrid Working

A leading real estate and industrial business is seeking a commercially minded Head of Procurement to lead the next phase of its procurement transformation journey.

Having successfully established a modern procurement function, delivered significant cost savings and embedded strong procurement governance across the organisation, the business is now looking for an experienced procurement professional to build on these foundations and drive the next stage of maturity.

This is not a traditional procurement leadership role. The successful individual will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, partnering with senior stakeholders to influence commercial decisions, optimise supplier relationships, manage risk and deliver long-term value across a substantial third-party spend portfolio.

The Opportunity

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of procurement strategy, supplier performance and commercial value creation across the organisation.

The procurement function has been established, is now well-regarded and in demand across the business. The focus now is on enhancing capability, developing category management and supplier relationship management approaches, improving visibility of spend and continuing to drive commercial value.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering the organisation's procurement strategy
  • Leading strategic sourcing initiatives and complex commercial negotiations
  • Delivering measurable cost savings, cost avoidance and wider commercial benefits
  • Partnering with business leaders to challenge demand and improve commercial decision-making
  • Strengthening supplier relationship management and supplier performance frameworks
  • Developing procurement category strategies across a broad range of spend areas
  • Supporting procurement technology and source-to-pay transformation initiatives
  • Improving spend visibility, governance and reporting
  • Enabling business functions to manage appropriate procurement activity whilst ensuring effective controls remain in place
  • Building strong relationships with Finance, Legal and operational stakeholders

About You

We're looking for an engaging and commercially astute procurement leader who can operate independently, influence senior stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

You are likely to bring:

  • Significant procurement and commercial experience within a complex organisation
  • A proven track record of delivering tangible procurement savings and business value
  • Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation expertise across indirect and corporate spend categories
  • Experience operating within multi-stakeholder or decentralised business environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
  • Experience improving procurement processes, systems and governance frameworks
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • A practical, delivery-focused mindset with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when required

Experience gained within consulting, professional services, private equity-backed businesses, real estate, infrastructure or similar environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a rare opportunity to inherit a procurement function with clear executive support, giving you the platform to shape its next stage of evolution.

You'll have genuine ownership, broad organisational exposure and the opportunity to influence strategic commercial decisions across a large and complex spend portfolio whilst helping drive business performance and operational efficiency.
