We are seeking a high‑calibre Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team of a well‑established UK business operating in a complex, multi‑channel environment, based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high‑profile role with regular exposure to the Managing Director and wider senior leadership group.
As the senior finance lead for the UK entity, you will be accountable for the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, while acting as a trusted business partner supporting strategic and operational decision making.
Key Responsibilities
* Full ownership of the UK month end close, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful management accounts
* Accountability for balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, accruals, provisions and technical judgements
* Preparation and coordination of UK statutory accounts and audits, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors
* Delivery of local and Group financial reporting in line with accounting standards, internal policies and deadlines
* Act as the technical accounting lead for the UK business, ensuring strong compliance, controls and governance
* Maintain and continuously strengthen the financial control framework, including policies, procedures and segregation of duties
* Provide high quality financial insight and ad‑hoc analysis to senior stakeholders to support investment, strategy and operational improvement
* Partner closely with commercial, FP&A and operational teams to drive accountability, cost control and informed decision making
* Lead, develop and mentor the UK finance team, fostering a high performance and continuous improvement culture
* Drive improvements in financial processes, systems and reporting, leveraging automation and new technologies to improve efficiency, control and quality of information
What we're looking for
* ACA / ACCA qualified with a strong technical accounting background, having trained with a top tier accountancy firm
* Significant experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or senior finance role within a UK business
* Proven track record of owning month end close, statutory accounts and audits
* Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial governance
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
* Experience in a Group reporting environment
* Exposure to ERP improvements, business intelligence or reporting automation
* Able to be in Wolverhampton 3 dyas p/week.
