Job Summary

An independent, fast-moving founder‑led AI infrastructure development company. The role will suit a hands‑on Finance Director (FD) who thrives in founder‑led environments and enjoys shaping the finance function of a scaling business, in a high‑growth, future‑focused sector.

About Our Client

A fast‑growing AI infrastructure development company, with a highly experienced leadership team and backed by recent capital investment. They are scaling rapidly across the UK and Europe, in a sector entering a phase of accelerated growth. With multiple large-scale projects in development and international expansion underway, they are looking to appoint a hands-on Finance Director to build and lead the finance function.

This is a rare opportunity to shape finance from the ground up. The immediate challenge will be to bring structure, visibility, and control to a fast moving, multi-SPV environment. Decisions must be supported by robust financial information, cash actively managed across projects, and stakeholders (founders, directors, lenders, investors, and advisors) in receipt of clear, credible financial and operational insights.

As FD you will need to effectively build scalable foundations that allow the business to grow with confidence and discipline. The business potential is huge and 2-years into the journey this is a really exciting time to join.

The Role

As Finance Director you will be reporting to one of the founding partners. A West Midlands based role, you will enjoy a remote-first work environment and be prepared to meet at HQ in the West Midlands at least weekly.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will work closely with the founding team and in the short term, the FD will be expected to build the core financial infrastructure of the business, introducing scalable processes, controls and reporting that reflects the realities of early-stage project development. You will also support legal and operational matters.

Overtime, as the platform matures, the role will broaden to include greater involvement in deal/ capital structuring, investor engagement and supporting international expansion, alongside building and leading a small finance team and broader strategic decision making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash management processes
  • Managing corporate and SPV financials, controls, and compliance
  • Supporting debt and equity raises and investor reporting
  • Leading statutory reporting, audits, tax, treasury, and risk management
  • Partnering with the executive team on project and investment decisions
  • Supporting international growth with external advisors

About you:

For this Finance Director opportunity in the West Midlands, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post qualification experience.

The opportunity will appeal to someone who enjoys and has operated in a fast-paced, ever changing, entrepreneurial environment.

Broad, end to end operational finance responsibility will be important. It is essential that you have had exposure to smaller companies or startups and combined with training or experience in a larger organisation.

You must also have a good balance of strategic vision and hands on operating style, being comfortable getting into the detail and building processes from scratch.

Experience in renewables, power, property development and/ or infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous but not essential.

Experience in automating processes and utilising AI tools to streamline finance operations would also be highly desirable.

This is not a "steady state" role - it is a genuine opportunity to shape how finance operates and then scale the team around you.

What's on offer:

Six Figure Package and Equity Potential: To share in the success you help build

Flexibility: Predominantly remote working with a West Midlands HQ
