Finance Business Partner
Location: Nottingham (Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary: Up to £60,000
Reporting to: Head of Finance

Overview
A large, fast-growing energy and infrastructure business is looking to appoint a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to support a high-pressure, high-profile portfolio of contracts and bids.
This role sits at the heart of the business, partnering closely with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to drive performance, provide financial insight, and support strategic decision-making. It's a hands-on role suited to someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership, and grow into a future leadership position over the next few years.
The environment is exciting and fast-moving, with lots of change, senior exposure, and opportunity - but it does require resilience, proactivity, and strong stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Performance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across a complex portfolio.
- Deliver clear variance analysis and performance commentary, turning data into insight.
- Build and maintain robust financial models to support decision-making.
- Ensure financial integrity across projects, contracts, and forecasts.
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and commercial leaders.
- Attend and contribute to monthly trading and performance reviews.
- Proactively challenge assumptions, hold stakeholders accountable, and "hold the line" where required.
- Manage upwards effectively, keeping senior finance leadership informed and ahead of issues.
Commercial Finance, Bids & Tenders
- Play a key role in bids, tenders, and pricing activity, providing financial input, risk assessment, and scenario modelling.
- Prepare commercial packs and presentations, telling a clear financial story around pipeline, performance, and future risks/opportunities.
- Support business cases and investment appraisals.
- Work heavily in PowerPoint, producing clear, senior-ready materials.
Reporting, Controls & Governance
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts.
- Support balance sheet reviews and adherence to financial controls.
- Monitor WIP, cash flow, and working capital.
- Work within Oracle and associated financial systems.
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) - essential.
- Background in Big 4 and/or audit, with the ability to apply that rigour commercially.
- Experience in a business-facing finance role, ideally within energy, infrastructure, construction, or utilities.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical skills.
- Confident communicator who can command authority with senior stakeholders.
- Highly proactive - someone who turns every stone, flags issues early, and keeps leadership informed.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment.
