International Credit Manager - Europe Region

Are you ready to take ownership of a high-impact credit management role with responsibility for cash collection across European markets? Based in Birmingham City Centre, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior leadership position where you'll shape credit policies, oversee accounts receivable processes, and drive cashflow performance across a number of regions. You'll be working closely with senior stakeholders in sales, finance, operations, and legal, playing a key part in supporting commercial growth while protecting the financial health of the business.

This is a broad and varied role where you'll not only oversee credit risk and collections but also lead and develop a dedicated credit control team, ensuring effective processes, compliance, and continuous improvement. The position offers real scope for influence, making it ideal for a confident leader who thrives in a multinational environment and enjoys balancing hands-on credit management with strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures across European markets.
  • Review and assess customer creditworthiness, setting appropriate credit limits and terms.
  • Lead collections activity, monitoring overdue debt, managing escalations, and driving improvements in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Oversee accounts receivable processes including reconciliations, credit notes, refunds, and bank guarantees/letters of credit.
  • Forecast short/medium-term cashflow and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Manage and coach a credit control team, setting targets and monitoring performance.
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams to resolve complex disputes and reduce bad debt.
  • Lead credit-related system and process improvements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, banks, and credit agencies.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong background in credit risk assessment, accounts receivable, and collections.
  • Proven track record in a regional or group-level credit management role, ideally within a multinational business.
  • CICM qualification (or equivalent) highly desirable.
  • Experience with bank guarantees, letters of credit, and managing credit risk across European regions.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to tight deadlines.
  • Strong Excel and IT system skills; exposure to credit-related systems and process improvement projects.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and capable of making sound credit decisions in complex situations.
