Cost Accountant
Permanent / Full Time / 37.5 hours per week / Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
A well-established organisation in Wolverhampton is currently seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team on a permanent basis. This is a key analytical role, supporting senior stakeholders with accurate cost information to drive informed decision-making around efficiency, profitability and performance.
The Role
Reporting into a senior finance leader, the Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in analysing and managing operational costs. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide insight into cost performance, support financial planning activities and contribute to continuous improvement across finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse cost information to support business decision-making
Monitor and report on cost performance, identifying trends and variances
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate cost data
Work with stakeholders across the business to gather information and provide financial insight
Assist with inventory analysis and valuation activities
Contribute to the preparation of management reports and financial information
Support month-end and year-end reporting processes as required
Help ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and accounting standards
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within cost reporting
Skills & Experience Required
Experience in cost and management accounting, including budgeting and forecasting
Strong Excel and MS Office skills; experience with ERP systems is advantageous
Analytical approach with strong attention to detail
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders
Ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively within a team
Proactive mindset with an interest in improving systems and processes
