  • £28000 - £38000 per annum
  • Coventry, West Midlands

Are you ready for a payroll role that goes beyond ticking boxes? This is your chance to take full ownership of client payrolls, run your own processes end-to-end, and be the go-to expert for a portfolio of businesses who trust you to get it right.

Gleeson are excited to be supporting a fast-growing recruitment business with the hire of a Client Payroll Specialist. You'll be at the heart of the action, managing payroll for 200+ clients and their temporary workforce, with both weekly and monthly deadlines to keep things varied and engaging. What makes this role different? It's not about being another cog in the machine - this is a client-facing position where your expertise makes a visible difference. You'll be given the tools and freedom to work independently, while still being part of a payroll team who are fun, supportive, and genuinely a joy to work with.

The team: Imagine working with a group of people who love what they do, but also love to enjoy life. Think team lunches, nights out, holidays abroad, and company trips that you'll actually want to go on. They're outgoing, bubbly, and bring great energy into the office. This is the kind of job that doesn't always feel like "work" - because you're surrounded by people who make it a great place to be.

What you'll be doing:

  • Running your own client payrolls from start to finish, both weekly and monthly
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients - answering queries and building relationships
  • Processing everything from pensions and statutory payments through to bonuses and adjustments
  • Managing multiple client deadlines while keeping quality and compliance spot on
  • Uploading pension files, completing RTI submissions, and liaising with HMRC
  • Setting up new payrolls and registrations, ensuring a smooth onboarding process

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience running payrolls for multiple businesses (payroll bureau, accountancy practice, or similar)
  • Confident knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
  • Someone who thrives under pressure, loves variety, and enjoys building client relationships
  • A proactive, organised payroller who wants more autonomy without losing the buzz of being in a team

💡 While this role is advertised up to £38,000, the business are also very open to considering payroll professionals who may not quite be at that level yet but have solid experience and the ambition to step up. So if you feel you're ready for that next challenge and want to grow into it, please still apply.

What's in it for you?

  • Hybrid working with a local office and flexibility to work from home
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Company incentive trips abroad (yes, really!)
  • A payroll team that are as social as they are supportive
  • The chance to run your own processes, take ownership, and grow

This isn't a back-office payroll job. This is a client-facing, hands-on, relationship-driven role where your work is valued and rewarded. If you're ready to step up, take control, and be part of a team that makes work fun, we'd love to hear from you.

At Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. We are proud to be a disability confident employer.

By applying you will be registered as a candidate with Gleeson Recruitment Limited. Our Privacy Policy is available on our website and explains how we will use your data.
