A leading UK university is undertaking an exciting transformation of its internal digital communications launching a brand-new staff intranet built on Microsoft Modern SharePoint. We're looking for a talented Senior Communications Officer (Intranet) to play a hands-on role in creating, testing and delivering engaging, accessible, and inclusive digital content that supports this major university-wide project.

The Role

As Senior Change Officer, you'll work closely with the Intranet Project Manager and an external 3rd party to bring the new intranet to life. You'll apply your expertise in digital content design, accessibility, and brand storytelling to develop user-focused materials that reflect the university's values and strategic goals.

You'll:

  • Plan and deliver content creation and publishing for the new intranet, ensuring consistency with brand, tone and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop engaging and accurate content that enhances internal engagement and communication.
  • Coordinate testing and feedback activity to continuously improve content and user experience.
  • Produce user-support materials such as guides, FAQs and how-to videos to promote understanding and adoption.
  • Contribute to communications campaigns that raise awareness and drive staff engagement with the new platform.
  • Provide day-to-day project coordination, working with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Manage or guide colleagues in producing high-quality, on-brand digital content.

About You

You'll be a proactive communicator and content specialist who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You'll combine creativity with attention to detail and have a proven ability to deliver high-quality content across digital platforms.

Essential experience includes:

  • Strong background in digital communications and content design, ideally for internal audiences.
  • Experience creating, editing, and managing digital content using intranet platforms or CMS tools (ideally SharePoint Modern Online).
  • Understanding of accessibility principles, inclusive design, and brand governance.
  • Proven ability to manage communications plans and coordinate content delivery across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience using analytics and feedback tools to improve content performance.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within higher education or another large, complex organisation.
  • Line management or project supervision experience.

Contract: 12 months (FTC), starting December 2025
Location: Hybrid (East Midlands)
Salary: £39,906-£43,482 + benefits
