Rail & Infrastructure Business Development Manager
About the Opportunity
An established international manufacturer and supplier of infrastructure solutions is seeking an experienced Rail & Infrastructure Business Development Manager to drive specification and project engagement across the rail, transport, tunnels, and wider infrastructure sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused professional with strong industry connections and technical expertise to influence major infrastructure projects, build relationships with consultants and specifiers, and help shape the future of critical transport networks.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing specification opportunities and increasing market penetration within the rail and infrastructure sector. Working closely with consultants, engineers, contractors, and end users, you will promote innovative infrastructure solutions and support projects from early concept through to order placement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with consultants, specifiers, engineers, contractors, and end users.
- Identifying and developing specification opportunities within rail, tunnel, and transport infrastructure projects.
- Supporting major national infrastructure programmes and key strategic projects.
- Monitoring industry regulations and ensuring products remain compliant with relevant standards and requirements.
- Developing and delivering CPD presentations, technical seminars, and "Lunch & Learn" sessions.
- Managing projects through the specification process and supporting successful conversion to sales opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate pipeline, quotation, and activity records within CRM systems.
- Developing and tracking future project opportunities to maximise market exposure.
- Providing technical guidance and product expertise to consulting engineers and specifiers.
- Delivering innovative and value-engineered solutions, including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approaches.
- Collaborating with internal technical, quality, and sales teams to identify market opportunities and emerging trends.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience specifying into within the rail and/or transport infrastructure consultants, contractors and end users.
- Strong relationships and access to key decision-makers within the industry.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- The ability to deliver technical training, CPDs, and solution-led presentations.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
- A proactive approach to business development and relationship management.
- Technical aptitude and the ability to understand and communicate complex product solutions.
