Job Title: Billing Assistant
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office
Overview
An established organisation based in Birmingham is looking to recruit a Billing Assistant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a detail‑focused individual with experience in billing or finance administration who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, review, and issuance of accurate and timely sales invoices
- Ensure billing data is correct, complete, and compliant with internal procedures and client agreements
- Liaise with internal teams to resolve billing queries and discrepancies
- Maintain and update customer billing records and supporting documentation
- Support month‑end billing processes, including reconciliations and reporting
- Assist with credit control by responding to invoice-related queries and supporting collections where required
- Monitor billing schedules and ensure deadlines are met
- Maintain organised records to support audit and reporting requirements
- Provide ad hoc administrative and finance support to the wider team as needed
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Billing Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar role
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good understanding of billing processes and basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using accounting or billing systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal stakeholders
- Well‑organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Experience working in a Law Firm or corporate environment
- Exposure to month‑end processes or reconciliations
