Mandarin Speaking Accounts Assistant

Location: Coventry
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Overview

An established and growing business based in Coventry is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Accounts Assistant to support the finance function. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to communicate confidently in Mandarin and English, supporting both local and international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Assist with month-end close, including preparing journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Process invoices, credit notes, and expense claims accurately and efficiently
  • Assist with the preparation of management information and basic financial reports
  • Support year-end close activities and external audit requirements as needed
  • Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting
  • Liaise with Mandarin-speaking suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures
  • Provide ad hoc accounting and administrative support to the wider finance team

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar role
  • Fluent Mandarin and English (spoken and written) is essential
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, SAP, or similar)
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Desirable

  • AAT qualification or studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA
  • Experience working with international or multi-currency environments
  • Exposure to VAT, balance sheet reconciliations, or audit support
