Gleeson Recruitment Group have just been briefed on a Transition Manager role working within a telecommunications business based in Manchester who are becoming huge player within their respective market. The business has huge ambitions for the next few years and they need a like minded Transition Manager to come in and hit the ground running and support all incoming change into the business.

Role Overview:

The Transition Manager is part of the Service Transition team, which resides in the Service Design & Transition directorate within the businesses Operations.

The Service Transition team is responsible for the seamless transition of all programme and project related change into Operations, protecting the interests of its operational stakeholders, customers and end consumers.



The Transition Manager will :

  • Work within (and adapt as appropriate), a focused transition governance framework which supports the efficient and consistent transition of new products and services (or improvements to existing products and services), into Operations
  • Ensure that transition policies, processes and procedures are followed in order to protect the live operational environment
  • Evaluate impact assessments, service capabilities, resource and risk profiles to build and manage customer-focused transition & readiness plans
  • Work closely as part of a wider matrix team of Transition Managers, Programme Directors, Project Managers, users, suppliers and third parties to ensure that all deliverables and milestones are achieved to support end to end transition and operational readiness lifecycle
  • Work closely with wider Operations teams, Programme teams, Service Providers and other users and stakeholders to ensure that they are ready to accept and support capabilities delivered by individual programmes or projects
  • Develop and maintain a broad stakeholder network, communicating clearly and effectively to keep abreast of progress, risks and issues; building trust and confidence that is based on delivery
  • Balance innovation and pace with minimising the unintended consequences of change
  • Be a point of authority for Operations into relevant internal and external governance boards as necessary, ensuring the appropriate consideration and representation of operational priorities and constraints at each stage of the project and programme
  • Work closely with Early Life Support teams to develop and manage work-off plans
  • Engage with key stakeholders to conduct post-transition reviews, evaluating the effectiveness of each programme or project transition, capturing and applying lessons learnt
  • Build confidence and demonstrate progress to stakeholders through continual service improvement and driving business value


Accountabilities

  • Protecting operations and customers through the seamless transition of programme led change into live operations
  • To be the authority of Operational Acceptance and associated governance for all programme led change
  • Work as part of a wider successful value add Service Design &Transition team


Skills and experience

  • Demonstrable resilience and experience of operating in a fast paced, multi- stakeholder change environment
  • Experience of operational implementation and change management within a technical, multi-supplier, business-to-business service environment
  • Ability to understand and articulate the challenges a business operation faces when consistent and parallel change is being delivered
  • Ability to understand, analyse, interpret, make recommendations and report on complex information, including operational performance data
  • Good understanding of a range of best practice project and programme delivery methodologies (e.g. agile, waterfall), with the emphasis on operational delivery
  • Experience of working within a structured Service ITIL Transition Framework
  • Strong stakeholder management skills at senior levels
  • Strong communication and reporting skills at senior stakeholder level
