The Supplier Quality Engineer will be an integral member of the plants Quality function and will manage key suppliers, ensuring delivery of robust, and costs effective products and services. They will ensure successful PPAP/PSW of new parts / processes working with NPI and Group Purchasing personnel and use supplier performance metrics & delivery of sustainable quality improvements on poor performing suppliers.
The key tasks of the role will include;
Manage and conduct Intensive Improvement Programs, for continual poor performing suppliers, including liaison with customers & production plants personnel.
Define needs, develop improvement programs and conduct training with supplier for successful development.
Ensure effective containment is established when Supplier Concerns are raised.
Audit Suppliers for robust CA & PA for concern resolution.
Improve Supplier quality performance to achieve agreed PPM and On Time Delivery Targets.
Effective co-ordination with Purchasing on the escalation process for poor performing suppliers.
Support activities -Project Managing, including verification of Advanced Quality Planning and Supplier Key Metrics for New Product Introduction and Change Management.
Final review and PSW approval of all supplier PPAP's as a result of NPI /Change Management process.
Ensure effective Safe Launch and Quality Improvement for supplied product required through the NPI / Change Management processes.
Conduct Run @ Rates and Launch Readiness Auditing to verify success for supplied product.
Support Plant Operations to achieve economic goals via. Value Management (VA/VE)
Introduction of Lean Manufacturing /Benchmark Methodologies and identifying areas of waste to improve profitability and business performance.
Support Purchasing in verifying and approving commodity Supplier Selection -Initial Supplier Selection Audit Process, Financial Stability to the Supplier Development Manual requirements.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be a proven Automotive professional with a strong supplier facing background and will have a mix of the following skills and experience;
2 years' experience working in 1st tier suppler with JLR as a primary customer.
IATF 16949 Lead Auditing Qualification and experience.
Experience in the development, implementation and auditing of quality systems and procedures.
Previous experience in high volume manufacturing.
Knowledge of IS09001, IATF16949:2015,ISO14001, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, control plans.
A persuasive and influential approach in order to promote change, run in-house training programmes and drive quality systems and initiatives.
A current clean driving licence as travel both UK wide and occasionally overseas will be required as part of this role.
