Indirect Tax Manager - Drive Your Career to New Heights!

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the indirect tax function of an iconic British household name? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your expertise can make a real impact? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Indirect Tax Manager to join a small, resolute team.

Role Purpose:

As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in optimising the tax position of the group by ensuring delivery of compliance, driving improvements, and providing high-quality advice on all aspects of VAT and IPT. You will have the opportunity to deputise for the Head of in broader tax matters and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the indirect tax function of the group, ensuring compliance, governance, and accurate reporting.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on VAT and IPT to divisions within the group, optimising their tax position and structuring commercial arrangements effectively.
  • Manage and enhance reporting processes, identifying opportunities, and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Finance, Legal, and Technology teams to deliver timely and valuable indirect tax support.
  • Stay up to date with legislative and case law developments to ensure compliance and make informed decisions.
  • Manage and respond to HMRC indirect tax enquiries and audit visits.
  • Drive the SAO process, including the tax risk register and resolution of control weaknesses across the business.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A solid understanding of the VAT technical frameworks , gained through in-house or in practice roles
  • Good financial accounting skills and commercial awareness.
  • Understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements for VAT and partial exemption.
  • Experience in working in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments.
  • Desirable experience in IPT (insurance premium tax)
