Gleeson Recruitment Group are pleased to be recruiting another exciting role for the West Midlands Growth Company. We are seeking a Senior Digital Marketing Executive to join the team and support a specialized area of growth for the company.

The West Midland Growth Company (WMGC) helps the region make its mark nationally and internationally. Through investor attraction and retention, regional marketing and tourism promotion, the WMGC showcases and supports the best of the West Midlands. The company works with a range of partners and stakeholders - including hundreds of local businesses, the public sector, universities and government.

The role:

To raise awareness and perception amongst international and national B2B audiences of the West Midlands as a desirable location for invest; leveraging a full mix of communications and marketing channels to promote our proposition and support lead generation.

Through this, the role will support the delivery of our Business and Tourism programme (BATP), which seeks to maximise the region's potential as the hosts of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. This programme will attract visitors, investors and events to the West Midlands and the UK, and grow export opportunities for the region and the UK.

The Senior Digital Marketing Executive will work alongside:

  • Digital Marketing Manager
  • Head of Sector Marketing
  • Sector Marketing & Communications Managers
  • Workstream leads
  • Programme Manager
  • Brand Manager

Key requirements:

  • Assisting in ideation, planning, and execution of the content marketing strategy
  • Creating engaging copy, proofreading and line editing
  • Ensuring brand consistency.
  • Identifying search traffic growth opportunities for content and sectors based on analytics.
  • Identifying successful content and mapping out new ways to repurpose (i.e. an article into a YouTube video) to amplify our messaging.
  • Creating content that is optimised for search and social media traffic.
  • Delivering email campaigns from inception through to testing, deployment, follow-up and reporting and make recommendations for improvements
  • Monitoring and reporting on digital marketing metrics and KPIs.
  • Maintaining the social media strategy that actively builds our following in target locations, addresses listening, networking, influencing, and lead generation on the social web..
  • Assist in establishing and delivering new digital marketing automation schemas, such as lead nurturing and funnel optimisation.
  • To support and deputise for the Digital Marketing Manager and work alongside the existing Senior Marcomms Executive on digital content creation and distribution.
  • To support delivery of training and consultancy to internal stakeholders, driving additional content creation and social media activity across the wider Business Development team.

Other related activities as required, particularly during the Games or key events.

Candidate criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience with successful support and execution of a content marketing strategy.
  • An excellent command of language, spelling, grammar, and tone.
  • An understanding of how to create and present content that persuades.
  • Proven experience using social media channels to distribute and amplify content.
  • An understanding of how to manage reputation, develop relationships, and drive website traffic.
  • Demonstrated experience with using digital content to generate leads and/or sales.
  • Ability to deal with and manage confidential and sensitive information with a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use non-enterprise level web CMS, e.g: Wordpress, Bolt.
  • An understanding of Google Analytics.
  • An understanding of CRM systems, e.g: Zoho One.
  • An understanding of email marketing platforms, e.g: Zoho Campaigns.
