Gleeson Recruitment Group is supporting a Utilities provider in Warwickshire to recruit a Regulatory Reporting Manager who will provide high quality reporting and insight into regulatory performance, deliver business partnering support to the wider business, own the end to end process for reporting in the UK with responsibility for managing and developing those processes to maximise the operational efficiency and lead and develop a team with the ambition of becoming a centre of excellence for technical accounting and reporting.

The business has a huge presence which can offer opportunities across the wider finance team in the future. The right person for this role will have a wealth of regulatory reporting experience or a keen interest to learn and become a subject matter expert. The business is going through a significant period of change which will provide a platform for an ambitious accountant to implement new ideas, build relationships with the senior leadership team and build a wealth of key achievements by driving process improvements.

Individuals with a practice background (ACA or ACCA) qualified who are making a first or 2nd move in industry will also be considered.

The Regulatory Reporting Manager will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage the relationship with external auditors in respect of Financial and Regulatory audits, ensuring all processes and governance structures are in place across Finance and the Business to support this. Produce & present Audit Committee reports for the UK operational company Boards
  • Lead, programme manage and co-ordinate regulatory and financial processes, including the provision of regulatory allowance information for Cost & Outputs RRP, in a manner that ensures regulatory and financial compliance, alongside an understanding of our performance for inclusion in supporting narrative
  • Deliver all revenue assurance related activities within the regulatory pricing framework, including the completion of the Revenue Regulatory Reporting Packs, updates following changes to the regulatory contracts, the Annual Iteration Process and quarterly charge setting in a manner which actively ensures regulatory compliance, optimises claimed revenue and identifies and manages financial and compliance risks
  • Oversee the end-to-end Financial Reporting processes (including the preparation of accounts, returns, dividend declarations and other internal and external financial reporting) including those partially conducted by the service provider, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with internal and external controls. Oversee the delivery of UK consolidated reporting, information packs, commentary and respond to ad-hoc requests to support the UK Financial Controller in providing insights to enable the business to make effective strategic and operational decisions
  • Focus on technical accounting queries and accounting project work. Provide technical accounting support to Finance Business Partners and the wider business. Create a consistent approach to technical accounting judgements and issues across Finance
  • Lead the Centre of Excellence team to provide quality, timely advice and training across Finance & the Business, to ensure non-specialists readily understand the financial aspects of the contracts, to support value-adding future decision making
  • Through a thorough understanding of business levers and all regulatory price control mechanisms and models, produce insightful information, analysis and interpretation of financial and regulatory outcomes (including returns, regulatory financial performance, tax and financing performance, forecasts) for presentation to senior management to support strategic direction discussions and long-term decision making
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through best practice, and support the delivery of change across Finance, to drive the improvement of long-term business capability
