Senior Real Estate Associate
A leading national law firm is seeking a Senior Real Estate Associate to join their team in Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham or Derby. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial real estate law practice, with a particular focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Acquisitions and disposals
  • Development
  • Leasing
  • Finance
  • Planning


The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced lawyer with a strong track record of delivering results. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to a range of clients in the housebuilding and strategic land development sector. This will include advising on the following:

  • Acquisitions and disposals of land
  • Development of land
  • Leasing of land
  • Finance for land development
  • Planning permission


The successful candidate will also be required to develop and maintain relationships with clients and other professionals in the sector.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' PQE in a commercial real estate law practice
  • A proven track-record of acting for house builders, promoters, developers, land owners, housing associations and local authorities
  • Good client relationships, with a possible client-base of their own
  • Some contacts with the leading residential development and/or strategic land agents in the region
  • Competency with more routine transactions such as conditional and unconditional contracts, options, golden-brick and other affordable housing transactions, back-to-back sales, deeds of easement, infrastructure agreements, overages, site-assembly, and service charge/ management agreements
  • Some experience of more complex transactions such as strategic land/ promotion agreements/ hybrid agreements, collaboration agreements, land pooling, building licences, mixed use schemes, PRS, institutional investment, portfolio charging and portfolio acquisitions
  • A good understanding of VAT and SDLT issues
