Reporting to the Senior Quality & Environmental Manager, the Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the quality control activities relating to operations within the business. The role will include liaising with all departments to ensure all quality requirements are understood, implemented and maintained.

Responsibilities and Duties shall include: -

  • Identification and implementation of quality controls within the production areas, using tools such as FMECA and risk assessments
  • Managing the quality control inspectors
  • Managing First Article Inspections
  • Supporting the Inspection of wheels and axles using both CMM, FARO and hand measuring equipment
  • Supporting 1st 2nd and 3rd Party audits
  • Supporting supplier product approval
  • Manage and maintain the non-conformance process, providing information to the customer as required ( NCR Portal)
  • Support the Safety Related Incident process
  • Use problem solving tools (8D) to investigate product quality issues
  • Implement and sustain quality improvements
  • Manage and maintain the Calibration System
  • Supporting new product implementation, ensuring compliance has been met


  • Apprentice Trained /Time Served
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering / Quality


  • A minimum of 5 years working in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of CMM measurement techniques
  • In depth understanding of engineering / technical drawings
  • Experience in CNC machining

Specific skills.

  • Fundamental understanding of CMM machines and inspection techniques
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise work
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Able to read and interpret manufacturing documents e.g. engineering drawings and specifications.
