Would you like to be a key member of a skilled process and continuous improvement team within a large scale multi-site advanced manufacturing operation for a leading global business? The Process / Continuous Improvement Engineer will report to the CI Manager and will be responsible and accountable for continuously improving products and process to positively impact quality, cost, safety and delivery.
The role is proactive in leading continuous improvement activities adopting the group improvement philosophy of quarter on quarter improvement of all business metrics by taking immediate action when non-conformances are raised, to identify route cause and remove likelihood of reoccurrence within the process. The role will incorporate the following responsibilities in this diverse and busy team;
Provide clear, unambiguous commitment to process improvement efforts in the Plant.
Collaborate with Technical, Engineering and Operations personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturing capability.
Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications, tolerances and proposed manufacturing routes as necessary to support cost effective production.
Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and start up with application of appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools.
Contribute in the development of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
The coordination of pre-launch production trial runs and ongoing process monitoring.
Support the development of PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
Provide Continuous Improvement support to Operations Department ensuring consistent application of quality techniques to include:
Resolving quality issues of product capability, finish, and shape related issues.
Close out quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
Determine process stability and capability studies to be performed on existing processes, reviewing and analysing the results to recommend changes.
Support maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plans and SOPs throughout the life of the parts.
Responsible for the facilitation and promotion of the use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action to include:
Coordination with Technical, Engineering, & Operations personnel to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Leading PPM improvement plan for strategic customers or processes applying appropriate statistical tools
The Process / Continuous Improvement Engineer will be a proactive individual with a wealth or process engineering and Lean / CI skills within a manufacturing engineering based environment. They will be self motivated and a driver of change and an improvement mindset and will have a mix of the following skills and experience;
Will have an intuitive understanding of manufacturing processes.
Demonstrable proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment such as Automotive, Aerospace or Construction / Industrial.
Be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to make effective decisions for the business and for product integrity.
Must demonstrate a range of leadership skills such as delegation, motivation and support.
Will deal with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Strong understanding of lean principles and problem solving tools
Will identify problems and develop innovative solutions, acting decisively, with good judgement.
Be able to demonstrate excellent presentation skills - written and verbal
PC literate with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of using other quality software applications is beneficial. (e.g. statistical analysis)
