Working in this global business environment where they engineer, manufacture, assemble and supply some of the highest quality automotive systems in the world to some of the leading global OEM customers, the Process Engineering Manager will be responsible to manage the Project Process Engineering team in the United Kingdom, to ensure on-time delivery of processes, tools, equipment and infrastructure for the production in mass production conditions, meeting all technical and regulatory specifications, as well as the Project timing and economical requirements.
This is a key engineering leadership role where a mix of technical expertise and solid people management and communication will be key to deliver a list of objectives which include;
Define the optimum process to manufacture new products in the UK, with the most adequate technology for each manufacturing site.
Define the lay-out in each production line.
Study and define the most adequate method in each work station, and plan all the means needed for the implementation.
Ensure Process FMEA is realised before the production means are kicked off and is fed into the technical specifications.
Supervise and approve the technical specifications for tools and investments, in accordance. Make sure that the Purchasing activities are managed in a timely manner, analyse Suppliers' technical solutions and provide feedback to the organisation about the suitability of the offers.
Ensure the capital investments are running at rate before mass production launch and estimate the cycle times and required manpower for each productive line.
Create the process related documents, and get them validated by Engineering.
Provide feasibility and cost estimations to the Engineering Changes, and follow the Engineering Changes all through the Project.
Launch technical measures, to ensure process optimisation is met (for instance, simulation of processes, process prototypes, etc.).
Make sure there is a coherence between Product and Process.
Support continuous improvement activity across all aspects of the product line.
With experience gained within a process engineering related role within a high volume (ideally automotive manufacturing) based environment and you will a HND / Degree level education from within Industrial Technical Engineering / Industrial field. Tool and equipment design and technical specifications and Process FMEA experience would be ideal as would any knowledge of glue, lamination, welding, laser, assembly and injection mold process.
