With a class leading product portfolio and a truly international customer base, this historic and well-established UK based manufacturing organisation has a turnover of circa £5M with an exceptionally healthy level of profitability. Part of a leading international PE backed group of companies who have a strong desire to not only grow the overall business but to also invest in its R&D and market penetration and diversify its end user customer base.
They now wish to appoint a commercially focused Managing Director who will be fully P&L responsible for the UK business as a whole and will report directly to the group board in Europe. The role of the UK MD will be one of leadership, innovation, global distributor and agent partner development and growth as well as being the key face of business to the global customer and supplier base.
The product set is a highly engineered and solutions driven offering that has huge development potential and innovation is both welcomed and desired by the parent group. The MD will be responsible for driving this product development and the overall commercial offering around it while building relationships and improving the standing of the business within the distributor and agent network internationally.
There are a number of transformation and supplier development projects underway that need to be driven and completed over the coming year along with the leadership and development of a small but highly capable team at their main manufacturing and HQ in Birmingham. The Managing Director will require strength of character to drive change led from the group as well as mentor and develop the team and grow the turnover of the business overall through diversification of the product offering and customer base. Development of the global Distributor network will be key to the growth of the organisation.
The MD will be a proven leader a commercially astute leader of manufacturing and engineering operations and able to wear many hats within this hands-on role. Ideally, you will have come through a commercial / Sales / Business Development route into a leadership role You will need to have experience of a solutions driven product offering in a low to medium volume production environment and knowledge of leading a business that sells internationally through a network of distributors and agents on an international basis in order to support the development of this network and the future scope of the organisation while maintaining the overall strong profit margin of the business and its contribution to the group. This may be your first step into a MD / GM role and this will be considered for the right individual with the right commercial background and proven Distributor experience on an international scale.
