As a leading global supplier of high tolerance metal components to the Aerospace, Defence and Industrial manufacturing sectors, this company has numerous sites UK wide and supplies product to some of the leading International OEM customer base.
Due to internal development and promotion, this high value manufacturing site now requires the appointment of an experienced Production / Manufacturing Manager for their Machine Shop facility at this key site in South Wales. Leading a highly skilled team and utilising some of the most state of the art machining centres as well as traditional hand controlled machines, the role reports directly to the Operations Director and is responsible for;
Management of team leaders and operators across all machining cells.
Actively control and encourage a problem-solving methodology.
Working alongside the Quality team to identify areas for improvement
Manage machine shop KPIs.
Setting & Controlling operational department CAPEX budgets.
Planning of all daily machine shop operations.
Manage manpower and resources effectively.
Identify areas where additional recruitment or resources are necessary
Manage consumable stock.
Ensure high quality standards are met and ensure lead times and health and safety compliance.
Conduct performance and development reviews.
The Production Manager for Machining will be a key role in the Operations team and so will need to be the driver and leader of this area within the business and will need to be an experienced Production Leader with a strong mix of the following skills and experience;
Qualified to HNC / HND or Degree level in an engineering related discipline.
Proven and demonstrable leadership and management skills.
Project management and visual management experience.
A sound understanding or metals based manufacturing and / or machining would be highly advantageous in this role.
Strong understanding of manufacturing principles.
Previous use of PFMEA problem solving techniques.
Previous experience using lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
Experience using ERP Systems.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and principles.
