Are you an experienced IT Category Manager? Are you looking for an exciting new challenge, where you can join a growing department in a newly created role?


I'm recruiting for an IT Category Manager to join this Birmingham based organisation. The role offers flexibility and will be a mix of office and home working. You will be responsible for contributing to this organisation's overall procurement and sustainability strategies and will work closely with budget-owner and stakeholders across the IT department to develop IT, Digital, Telecommunication and related Technology categories procurement strategies. This is all part of a digital transformation that this organisation is going through.

Your key responsibilities will include designing, managing, and executing both IT procurement category plans, evaluating processes and identifying risks and issues to ensure contracts are delivered on time, to budget, with improved benefits and savings. You will also conduct deep research into IT spend category and identify how savings and sustainable margin improvement can be created. You will also drive continual improvement of all suppliers and contracts, while managing contract life cycle and timescales effectively, and (re-)negotiate terms as required.


In order to carry out this role, you will need the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in an IT Procurement related role with competence and a proven ability to build, and execute category strategies, gaining business alignment.
  • The ability to structure RFPs, execute and evaluate RFPs against a broad set of evaluation criteria and provide recommendations for vendor selection.
  • A successful track record of delivering significant cost savings and broader commercial benefits throughout the deal making process.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with extensive and relevant experience of 3rd-party negotiations, commercial terms, and contracting.
  • Sound understanding and experience of supplier development and life cycle relationship management.
  • Proven influencing skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Product knowledge including Hardware, Software, Storage, Telecoms, Professional Services and Maintenance.
  • Ideally MCIPS qualified or willing to work towards this


In return, you will receive a salary of circa £60,000 + benefits
