Gleeson Recruitment Group is proud to be partnered exclusively with a not for profit in Birmingham city centre on their search for an Internal Auditor. This is an exciting role which will focus on establishing an internal audit framework and building audit activities. This role will have a heavy focus on liaising with the external audit partner, and internal stakeholder management so communication skills are vital.

As an Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. You will play a key role in identifying potential risks and implementing measures to mitigate them.

  • Hybrid working (2 days in)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute audit plans, including risk assessment, audit scope, and objectives.
  • Conduct internal audits of financial, operational, and compliance processes to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Identify areas of risk and make recommendations for process improvements and control enhancements.
  • Communicate audit findings to management and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and verify that they have been effective.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, regulations, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA)
  • At least 3 years of experience in internal auditing or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with auditing software and data analytics tools.
